Dr. Gregory Wray is Director of the IGSP's Center for Evolutionary Genomics. Dr. Wray received his PhD in Biology from Duke University in 1987, and was Assistant Professor of Ecology and Evolution at the State University of New York at Stony Brook from 1993-1999. He was the recipient of a Young Investigator Award in Molecular Evolution from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for his work on the evolutionary genetics of animal development. He returned to Duke in 1999, and is Professor of Biology.

The author of more than 75 scholarly publications on a variety of topics in contemporary evolutionary biology, Wray' s primary interests include the evolution of gene regulatory networks, human evolution, and the evolution of develomental mechanisms. He is co-founder and associate editor of the journal Evolution & Development and is currently on the editorial boards of Development, Genes, and Evolution, and the Quarterly Review of Biology.
