Spotted Arrays

As an alternative to the Affymetrix system, the Microarray Facility produces customized DNA arrays using the DNA spotting technology. This offers the advantages of flexibility and reduced cost in comparison with the Affymetrix platform. The arrays are produced with oligonucleotide genome sets purchased from Operon. At the present time, the facility produces human, mouse, yeast, and rat arrays with content varying from 6K to 36K features. Services are also provided for printing products (oligos or PCR) provided by investigators, or printing oligos or cDNAs where investigators provide products in 96- or 384-well formats. The facility's arrayer provides a high throughput capacity sufficient for the production of slides containing 10,000 spots in a 24-hr. period. Using a GeneMachines Omnigrid arrayer, the facility has the capacity to generate printed microarrays of various forms. Discounted pricing is available to qualified Investigators, click here to see requirements for discounted services. Investigators that wish to use these services should use our online submission forms to initiate the process.

The Oligo Microarray Database (OMAD) provides information on each probe (e.g., name, length and melting temperature) and its representative open reading frame (ORF) or gene (e.g., name, symbol and description), as well as links to public domain databases.
